The Jesus Fish-The persecuted early Christians used the catacombs (underground burial systems in Rome) to pray in groups. To identify each other as a fellow Christian one person would nonchalantly form a half circle in the sand with his/her foot. If the other person drew an opposing half circle completing the fish symbol, they knew they were a fellow believer.
